I recently sat down with three associates of Animal Rights Zone — Carolyn Bailey, Tim Gier, and Ronnie Lee — to discuss my new book, The Politics of Total Liberation: Revolution for the 21st Century, and the concept of total liberation generally. You can listen to the interview here. With my new book now out, I will be doing more interviews about it and will post here.

Reblogged this on Moral Dilimia.
I so agree with your views on all movements coming together to achieve some real change for the animals. I have been back in school, focusing on SS, taking Ethnic, Women’s, LGBT studies, infiltrating the conversations whenever I can without overwhelming the naive. Of course I feel all rights are important for all species, especially the innocents. These social movements are all on the L. and anyone still on the R., is clueless, and, or Racists bigots Evil 1 %. Everything you have said Steve is common sense to me, and I am grateful for the small amount of change I see everyday, but still frustrated that within this movement there is so many problems with ego’s, drama and some classism that keeps us from real democratic progress. The point is, what are we going to do organize the AR movement as a combined single issue? Where and how do we set priorities of campaigns and where are the real changes going to happen? I think Peter and Ann Muller have the right idea with LOHV, getting the changes within the political system. The Animal Legal Defense Fund recently appealed a lawsuit to gain “civil rights” for primates. Should we be spending more time and energy in the political and Legal avenues? All animals are equally deserving of our actions, but I can’t help think that we should all make the efforts to stop the killing of our companion animals first. If we can’t get people to stop killing the shelter animals first, how can we expect to get them to feel empathy to the others? There is huge support for Horses, many, many people love horses, and have voiced their anger and frustration at the BLM ignoring the legal actions, petitions and continuing to wipe out the wild herds on our public US lands. And what it comes down to, is we are all up against and are fighting the 1%. Their agenda is to have our land free and clear of every horse, wolf, and environmentalist for their stinkin Keystone Pipeline. The 1% are the Republicans that are buying our BLM, F&W, and Gov.agencies. They are all about the destruction of our environment and all that live there for a buck. They are all sexist, rapists, racists bigots NRA freaks running the whole show, so we are on the same page as the OWS, Anonymous, Russell Brand Revolution, we just haven’t reached out to combine efforts, so Thank you for continuing to speak for this, and I hope to hear some more discussion on these issues soon.
